We used a warm sage green on the cabinets, warm wood on the floors and shelves, and black accents to give this pantry casual sophistication. We also added a beverage refrigerator and small farmhouse sink.

Beautiful transitional coastal kitchen with hidden pantry. White shaker cabinets, quartz counter tops, glass and stone tile back splash, bronze plumbing fixtures, wood hood, and a shiplap wrapped island accented with stained wood legs.

The builder we partnered with for this beauty original wanted to use his cabinet person (who builds and finishes on site) but the clients advocated for manufactured cabinets - and we agree with them! These homeowners were just wonderful to work with and wanted materials that were a little more "out of the box" than the standard "white kitchen" you see popping up everywhere today - and their dog, who came along to every meeting, agreed to something with longevity, and a good warranty! The cabinets are from WW Woods, their Eclipse (Frameless, Full Access) line in the Aspen door style - a shaker with a little detail. The perimeter kitchen and scullery cabinets are a Poplar wood with their Seagull stain finish, and the kitchen island is a Maple wood with their Soft White paint finish. The space itself was a little small, and they loved the cabinetry material, so we even paneled their built in refrigeration units to make the kitchen feel a little bigger. And the open shelving in the scullery acts as the perfect go-to pantry, without having to go through a ton of doors - it's just behind the hood wall!

Just off the kitchen, a walk-in pantry allows you the room to organize more than just pantry staples. Along with your well-stocked supplies, it can comfortably fit large serving pieces and small appliances like slow cookers and juicers that may not be used with frequency. Kara Lashuay

Cummings Architecture + InteriorsCummings Architecture + Interiors
The team at Cummings Architects is often approached to enhance an otherwise wonderful home by designing a custom kitchen that is both beautiful and functional. Located near Patton Park in Hamilton Massachusetts this charming Victorian had a dated kitchen, mudroom, and waning entry hall that seemed out of place and certainly weren’t providing the owners with the kind of space and atmosphere they wanted. At their initial visit, Mathew made mental sketches of the immediate possibilities – an open, friendly kitchen concept with bright windows to provide a seamless connection to the exterior yard spaces. As the design evolved, additional details were added such as a spacious pantry that tucks smartly under the stair landing and accommodates an impressive collection of culinary supplies. In addition, the front entry, formerly a rather dark and dreary space, was opened up and is now a light-filled hall that welcomes visitors warmly, while maintaining the charm of the original Victorian fabric.
