This beautiful transitional kitchen remodel features both natural cherry flat panel cabinetry alongside painted grey cabinets, stainless steel appliances and satin nickel hardware. The overall result is to an upscale and airy space that anyone would want to spend time in. The oversize island is a contrast in cool grey which joins the kitchen to the adjacent dining area, tying the two spaces together. Countertops in cherry butcher block as well as fantasy brown granite bring contrast to this expansive kitchen. Finally the rough-hewn flooring with it's mixture of rich, deep wood tones alongside lighter hues finish off this exquisite space.
White is the star in this bright modern kitchen, but a variety of textures and tones round out the cast.

The dining room contained two corner cabinets with glass leaded doors. We wanted a small cupboard in the kitchen for glasses, but the space available was narrow. Instead of letting the cupboard to the ceiling we designed it low, "stole" the general design of the original dining room cupboards and built a little gem. That this cupboard reflects the syle and design of the adjoining room's cupboards connects the kitchen design with the original architecture of the home and allows an ease when moving from one room to another. We should not overlook in design other features of the hone, instead these present opportunities to enrich the overall space and continuum. Jaeger & Ernst cabinetmakers believe in restoration done well and with creative thought. We welcome the chance to work with other trade professionals to achieve similar ends. When such efforts of restoration are led by a creative architect the ends may be truly beautiful. Image # 21068.5

Narrow spaces are dicey challenges. The space must flow to allow for the ebb and passage of we humans. It is not enough to think in straight lines. Sometimes juts and recess may affect our perception and usage of the space. Look within the fining room in the corner. There is one of the original house corner cabinets with a leaded glass design. We brought the design for unity into the kitchen. This willingness to bend a knee to the original architecture of the home increases the chances of success in smaller spaces. We may think each rom must be different however when done with ill thought, without any consideration for the rest of the house, the result more likely is a jarring sensation. Design well, seek beauty and quality. Jaeger and Ernst cabinetmakers believes in design and quality. Image # 21068.6 Photographer: Greg Jaeger
