SAINT HELENA ISLAND HOME
SAINT HELENA ISLAND HOME

Built as a vacation home on the historic Port Royal Sound, the residence is patterned after the neo-traditional style that’s common in the low country of South Carolina. Key to the project was the natural wood interior widows, which added the classic look and warmth demanded for the project. In Addition, Integrity® Wood-Ultrex® windows stand up to blowing salt water spray year after year, which makes them ideal for building in a coastal environment.

This kitchen brings to life a reclaimed log cabin. The distressed plank cabinet doors, stainless steel counters, and flagstone floors augment the authentic feel.

At 90 square feet, this tiny kitchen is smaller than most bathrooms. Add to that four doorways and a window and you have one tough little room. The key to this type of space is the selection of compact European appliances. The fridge is completely enclosed in cabinetry as is the 45cm dishwasher. Sink selection and placement allowed for a very useful corner storage cabinet. Drawers and additional storage are accommodated along the existing wall space right of the rear porch door. Note the careful planning how the casings of this door are not compromised by countertops. This tiny kitchen even features a pull-out pantry to the left of the fridge. The retro look is created by using laminate cabinets with aluminum edges; that is reiterated in the metal-edged laminate countertop. Marmoleum flooring and glass tiles complete the look.

This three story loft development was the harbinger of the revitalization movement in Downtown Phoenix. With a versatile layout and industrial finishes, Studio D’s design softened the space while retaining the commercial essence of the loft. The design focused primarily on furniture and fixtures with some material selections. Targeting a high end aesthetic, the design lead was able to value engineer the budget by mixing custom designed pieces with retail pieces, concentrating the effort on high impact areas.

The villa kitchen provides the perfect setting. The large window over the sink looks out to a deck dining area. Stainless steel countertops are easy to care for. Warm and cool are combined by setting off the stainless steel faced cabinetry with a deep red wall, wood accents and red sisal rug. Open shelves for often-used dishware allow for convenience as well as a sense of rhythm and repetition, one of Jane's favorite motifs. The result is a kitchen that imbues the food -- and the kitchen conversation -- with lively energy.

The arched tile wall over the range is the focal point of the Kitchen and elevates the Kitchen to a work of art in it's own right.

This room, formally a dining room was opened up to the great room and turned into a new kitchen. The entertainment style kitchen comes with a lot of custom detailing. The island is designed to look like a modern piece of furniture. The St. Laurent marble top is set down into a mahogany wood for a furniture-like feel. A custom server is between the kitchen and great room. The server mimics the island design with the mahogany and marble. We incorporated two lamps in the server to enhance its furniture-like feel. This house from 1980’s had enclosed dining room separated with walls from the family room and the kitchen. The builder’s original kitchen was poorly laid out with just one bank of drawers. There was hardly any storage space for today’s lifestyle. The wall dividing the family room and the kitchen from the dining room was removed to create an open concept space. Moving the kitchen sink to the corner freed up more space for the pots and pans drawers. An island was added for extra storage and an eating area for the couple. This eclectic interior has white and grey kitchen cabinets with granite and butcher block countertops. The walnut butcher block on the island created the focal point and added some contrast to the high gloss cabinets and the concrete look marmoleum floor. The fireplace facade is done in tiles which replicate rusted metal. The dining room ceiling was done with cove lighting. The house was brought up to today’s lifestyle of living for the owners.
