The homeowners liked the idea of two-toned kitchen cabinets, so we opted for a combination of pure white and charcoal gray for dramatic contrast. Brushed gold fixtures and statement brass pulls add warmth and sophistication. The distinctive quartzite counters are a showstopper, with unique veining and striking color variation, from blue to gray to ochre. The shimmering blue-gray backsplash unites the entire space. The overall goal was to create an expansive entertaining kitchen that could accommodate our clients’ large gatherings of family and friends, and provide them with several zones for prepping, serving, seating, and socializing.

There was a small island that did not fit the entire family around, with an off-centered sink and the range was off-centered from the adjoining family room opening. This kitchen was created by removing a wall that separated the family room from the kitchen. This allowed us to add a second island. The islands are topped with Viatera Karis quartz, which is carried up to serve as a back splash. Industrial spotlights are used as pendants over the prep area. Mirrored upper cabinets keep the space from feeling too industrial and add a European touch. A collection of vintage ironstone pitchers is displayed in the upper cabinets.

The large island is a great gathering point with in the open concept of the dining/kitchen/living space. Using two different colors of quartz countertops added contrast that highlights the marble backsplash. The backsplash adds texture and richness to the space. Shaker style cabinets help modernize the space with the clean lines. Function was key to this kitchen working with utensil pullouts, spice racks, rollouts, hidden storage and a knife block.
