This is a 1945 built home in Mid-Town Chattanooga, TN. A collection of curated items gives the mid-century style home some extra personality.

Take II staging & redesign
With the piano relocated to the opposite corner of the room, we can open up the space for conversation. The fireplace is a welcoming highlight to the room. An asymmetrical arrangement on the mantle allows the eye to rest on the collector vases this homeowner has. Family photos that our client loves become a collection on the side table.

Beautiful spray painted shelving unit around chimney space , perfect for books and family photos
Attic Antics
We painted all the knotty pine with Behr paint to brighten up the space. We added round windows on either side of the fireplace and replaced the large picture window with casings that could open so we could catch a breeze. Sofa is from Ikea, mirror and lamp from home decor store, the rest of the furnishings and accents are from antique fairs and antique stores in Cannon Beach, Portland and Europe.

A young family with a toddler bought a Decorist Makeover because they wanted budget-friendly decorating help for the living room in their new, bungalow-style Northern California residence. They were starting from scratch, and needed to affordably furnish the entire space in a way that was kid friendly, but adult-centric...a comfortable place to entertain guests, and relax and enjoy the fireplace and view.
Decorist designer Chrissy recommended an orange and gray palette, incorporating pattern and texture through the geometric rug, modern trellis pillows and the Mongolian fur throw pillow. And to be kid-friendly without compromising style, she chose tables with rounded edges, from the mid-century inspired oval wood coffee table to the pair of metal + marble CB2 side tables. Isn't it a cheerful space? We'd move in! http://www.decorist.com/makeovers/10/a-california-bungalow-gets-a-modern
