The client converted the basement into a family room/play room and guest room/bathroom. They wanted a vibrant, inviting space that felt warm and also very kid friendly. Through the use of bright color and mixture of patterns I set a bold stage for play and children's activity. Photo Credit: Mona Brooks.

My House Design/Build Team | www.myhousedesignbuild.com | 604-694-6873 | Duy Nguyen Photography -------------------------------------------------------Right from the beginning it was evident that this Coquitlam Renovation was unique. It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... The homeowners unabashedness towards colour and willingness to embrace the home’s mid-century architecture made this home one of a kind. The existing T&G cedar ceiling, dropped beams, and ample glazing naturally leant itself to a mid-century space.

The family room is the primary living space in the home, with beautifully detailed fireplace and built-in shelving surround, as well as a complete window wall to the lush back yard. The stained glass windows and panels were designed and made by the homeowner.

The living room and dining room both exhibit a natural color palette, with greens and blues being used as colorful touches among the cream-colored and wooden furniture. A comfortable living area with a sofa, beige sofa chairs, and beige, patterned storage ottomans are complemented by the vibrant artwork mounted above the fireplace with a wooden accent wall.
Project designed by Atlanta interior design firm, Nandina Home & Design. Their Sandy Springs home decor showroom and design studio also serve Midtown, Buckhead, and outside the perimeter.

Two teen boys, three dogs and 1 cat needed a worry free living room. Everything except the rug ( and cat and exercise ball) in this family room, came from a thrift store. The drapes are made from drop cloths from Home Depot.
