Fortem Projects Pty Ltd
Tivoli Road is a period home in South Yarra. Fortem Projects was engaged to remove and reinstate existing period features of the historic building at the front of the house, and to create a modern refurbishment which would seamlessly integrate new architectural elements informed by the architectural vision of Bayley Ward.
A complete transformation of external areas also needed to be carried out, including a pool.
Clear communication between Fortem Projects, architects Bayley Ward and our client ensured all potential issues were resolved early in the process.
A use of natural materials including timber and stone provided a sense of balance to the project which helped to both contrast and highlight the home’s existing period features.

Schweigen Silent Rangehoods
No detail was spared on this 1970s double-story renovation. The home was completely gutted from floor to ceiling to make way for the clients' opulent vision, creating the perfect dwelling for their growing family. The pastel colour tone, offset with high-end dark cabinetry makes a bold statement within the kitchen. While the natural wood and marble finishes are beautifully crafted to compliment the clients' persona and taste. This project has been lovingly completed with impeccable craftsmanship to be enjoyed for many many years to come, such as the timeless design and build of this beautiful space.
Schweigen is proud to have featured our flagship silent rangehood seamlessly integrated into the black overhead cabinetry. The black glassed (KLS-9GLASSBLKS) undermount rangehood is a perfect addition to this family kitchen. With the external german-made IsoDrive motor mounted on the roof, cooking can be enjoyed in quiet bliss.

Matter Design & Make Pty Ltd
Our client approached Matter in late 2019 for a new kitchen. While the existing kitchen had a reasonable layout and some great features, the cupboards weren’t optimising the space to its full potential, particularly for storage. Noting that the old kitchen aged very quickly, our client wanted the new kitchen to be constructed entirely from plywood—liking the appearance and strength of the material. They also loved vibrant use of colour and suggested we look at the kitchens featured in films by the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar for inspiration.
The result was a playful mix of hand painted navy, light blue and retro orange in combination with a ‘raw’ effect from the birch plywood. To save on cost and waste,
we decided to keep certain components of the kitchen that have remained in very good condition. Some of these included the stainless steel bench tops and oven/range hood stack, as well as a polished concrete island bench top. We replaced most of the cupboards
with drawer units specifically tailored to fit our client's extensive collection of cookware and appliances with adjustable partitions. An integrated Hideaway rubbish bin free’s up circulation space and a Kesseböhmer pull-out pantry will ensure no bottle of spice is ever lost to the back of a cupboard again.

This light bright kitchen suits the home perfectly with a stone waterfall island at it's heart. The stone is continued on the backsplash and cover for the rangehood giving a lovely clean wrap around effect. The traditional style shaker cabinetry ties it all into the age of the home beautifully. With the skylights allowing bursts of ligt to come down. The pendant lights are also a thing of beauty adding a softness that ties in so perfectly with the other dressings and the larger version in the dining area.

Trends Kitchens
This Queenstown home features Trends Kitchens joinery throughout, including all storage, robes, a bar and a coffee station.
The kitchen boasts a spectacular stone benchtop, with battened American Oak to the underside of the curved island. The negative details feature a brass laminate detail to tie in the marble in the stone, alongside the stunning Archant Berkley handles.
New Zealand Certified Builders Association
This kitchen has 18mm, 13-ply plywood and a towering door which divides it from the lounge by sliding back into the wall when not in use.
Dimension Building
With its gabled rectangular form and black iron cladding, this clever new build makes a striking statement yet complements its natural environment.
Internally, the house has been lined in chipboard with negative detailing. Polished concrete floors not only look stylish but absorb the sunlight that floods in, keeping the north-facing home warm.
The bathroom also features chipboard and two windows to capture the outlook. One of these is positioned at the end of the shower to bring the rural views inside.
Floor-to-ceiling dark tiles in the shower alcove make a stunning contrast to the wood. Made on-site, the concrete vanity benchtops match the imported bathtub and vanity bowls.
Doors from each of the four bedrooms open to their own exposed aggregate terrace, landscaped with plants and boulders.
Attached to the custom kitchen island is a lowered dining area, continuing the chipboard theme. The cabinets and benchtops match those in the bathrooms and contrast with the rest of the open-plan space.
A lot has been achieved in this home on a tight budget.
