This is a beautiful built in bookcase area surrounding a gorgeous stacked stone fireplace. Cabinetry used is Medallion's Brookhill raised panel door style in Carriage Black Heirloom painted finish. The two outside base units have been prepped for glass with speaker cloth attached for housing speakers. Large sceen tv mounted above the fireplace creates the finishing touches on this functional, family friendly, homey space.
Direct Plus' trim carpenter hand made the one of a kind fireplace mantel that wraps the stacked stone and finishes off the tops of the base units.

The family room addition to this 1930's stone house
was conceived of as an outdoor room, with floor-to-ceiling
glass doors, large skylights and a fieldstone floor. White
cabinets, cherry and slate countertops harmonize with the
exposed stone walls.

Normandy Remodeling
This fireplace in the open family room is part of a larger addition to this Oak Park home, which also included a new kitchen and a second floor master suite. This project was designed and executed by award winning Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryant, who wanted to add visual interest and a focal point to this large living room space.

Casual yet refined Great Room (Living Room, Family Room and Sunroom/Dining Room) with custom built-ins, custom fireplace, wood beam, custom storage, picture lights. Natural elements. Coffered ceiling living room with piano and hidden bar. Exposed wood beam in family room.
Amazing Spaces
This project incorporated the main floor of the home. The existing kitchen was narrow and dated, and closed off from the rest of the common spaces. The client’s wish list included opening up the space to combine the dining room and kitchen, create a more functional entry foyer, and update the dark sunporch to be more inviting.
The concept resulted in swapping the kitchen and dining area, creating a perfect flow from the entry through to the sunporch.
A double-sided stone-clad fireplace divides the great room and sunporch, highlighting the new vaulted ceiling. The old wood paneling on the walls was removed and reclaimed wood beams were added to the ceiling. The single door to the patio was replaced with a double door. New furniture and accessories in shades of blue and gray is at home in this bright and airy family room.
