The London Gardener Ltd
A contemporary roof terrace designed to be a place to entertain and relax. Planted with predominately evergreen plants to give year-round structure, texture and privacy. Powder-coated steel planters were made in differing shapes, heights and colours to give more interest, and reflect the light. Some planters were placed on wheeled bases so that they could be moved around for large parties! The planting was also wind tolerant with a flowing colour pallet of lilac and white. We installed an irrigation system to water the plants and shots of colour came from cushions (outdoor fabric) and ethnic floor cushions. High quality outdoor lighting gave the space atmosphere with additional hanging lanterns used with large candles.
Amber Freda Garden Design
Check out the amazing skyline views from this roof deck in Brooklyn heights. We chose hardy, low maintenance plantings that would complement the view, rather than compete with it. Our design included a mix of high contrast black and white planters in a mix of straight lines and sphere shapes. The plantings can all withstand full sun and windy conditions and include river birches, ornamental grasses, and boxwoods. See more of our projects at www.amberfreda.com.

The goal of this landscape design and build project was to create a roof deck patio and green roof. The patio features square concrete unit pavers, sedum ground cover, and planters with small trees. Modern patio furniture was chosen to facilitate large and small gatherings alike overlooking the Boston skyline. Designed and built by Skyline Landscapes, LLC.

Art Moderne seating in the foreground not only suits the outdoors but relates to the colors and patterns inside the apartment. In the distance the tall equipment storage is also a planter and beyond the private shaded sitting area.
Green Look
This project in Redfern, Sydney is on the 6th floor. It provided a unique challenge due to exposure and depth of soil requirements.
The project has now been installed for over a year and both plants and client are very happy.
For installation we only has 120mm depth to play with. This included waterproofing, drainage layer, growing media and mulch. All products had to be brought up by lift and moved through a residence. The roof was first checked for leaks, and a leak detection system was installed. Growing media was designed by Robert Griffith based on his international experience with green roofs . Plant species were selected for their hardiness and display, this was a decorative garden for use by the clients, all windows in the house look over the garden. Apart from the extensive (light weight) green roof a number of large pots and a green wall around the spa was installed. Automatic irrigation was installed for all plantings.

This home was situated on the lot to maximize the integration with the outside spaces. Clean and simple lines along with the monochromatic color scheme enhances the tranquility of the setting.
K. Dakin Design Inc.
This residential green roof and ground level garden was designed with the client’s specific lifestyle in mind. The client had long dreamed of being able to look out her bedroom window into a life-filled rooftop scene with flowering native plants and grasses frequented by local birds, butterflies and bees. A biodiverse, native plant filled ground level garden was also a high priority. K. Dakin Design made this dream a reality, selecting climate adapted plantings that would appeal to these wildlife visitors, benefitting the homeowner, the regional ecosystem and the pollinators themselves.
