This was a total redesign. We removed all existing plantings. The side yard was all overgrown by the stream. We cleaned the area and created a small fire pit area using large boulders for retention and irregular blue stone for patio. A landscape plan was put together and new planting were installed. The front walkway was reshaped and relayed. Landscape lighting was added to complete the project. We used pea gravel to create a pathway to the water.
Large Boulders were install along stream to create a level sitting area using irregular blue stone. Stepping stone create a path to fire pit area.

This new house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood developed in the 1920’s, that is in transition, with new larger homes replacing the original modest-sized homes. The house is designed to be harmonious with its traditional neighbors, with divided lite windows, and hip roofs. The roofline of the shingled house steps down with the sloping property, keeping the house in scale with the neighborhood. The interior of the great room is oriented around a massive double-sided chimney, and opens to the south to an outdoor stone terrace and gardens. Photo by: Nat Rea Photography

A pergola of rustic barn wood spans a masonry courtyard wall capped with Bedford stone. The dining bluestone patio is framed by a triple stretcher of permeable, Pine Hall StormPave brick pavers with an outer stretcher border of Germantown limestone cobbles. LED under ledge low voltage lights were placed in select areas on the cap of the courtyard walls while a down light was anchored in the center of the overhead pergola.
