An Elegantly Functional Kitchen in Durham

Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes. The Oasis Tiny Home Kitchen

This coastal, contemporary Tiny Home features a warm yet industrial style kitchen with stainless steel counters and husky tool drawers with black cabinets. the silver metal counters are complimented by grey subway tiling as a backsplash against the warmth of the locally sourced curly mango wood windowsill ledge. The mango wood windowsill also acts as a pass-through window to an outdoor bar and seating area on the deck. Entertaining guests right from the kitchen essentially makes this a wet-bar. LED track lighting adds the right amount of accent lighting and brightness to the area. The window is actually a french door that is mirrored on the opposite side of the kitchen. This kitchen has 7-foot long stainless steel counters on either end. There are stainless steel outlet covers to match the industrial look. There are stained exposed beams adding a cozy and stylish feeling to the room. To the back end of the kitchen is a frosted glass pocket door leading to the bathroom. All shelving is made of Hawaiian locally sourced curly mango wood.

We love the clean and crisp lines of this beautiful German manufactured kitchen in Hither Green. The inclusion of the peninsular island which houses the Siemens induction hob, creates much needed additional work top space and is a lovely sociable way to cook and entertain. The completely floor to ceiling cabinets, not only look stunning but maximise the storage space available. The combination of the warm oak Nebraska doors, wooden floor and yellow glass splash back compliment the matt white lacquer doors perfectly and bring a lovely warmth to this open plan kitchen space.

We took this small galley kitchen and turned it into a functional space for a family of 5. Open shelves let the light poor in. White appliances offer a clean look that is more warm than stainless steel. We added barn doors for better traffic management when Mom and Dad are cooking. We also made the center island mobile so it can also be used in the dining room for serving buffet style.

This property hasn't been updated since the 199o's and was very out-of-date. The client's wish was to keep the rooms light and bright, with a Mid Century, modern twist. This was accomplished with 2 months of prep work and 5 months total for completion. The drab blue carpeting was removed and porcelain hickory honey floors laid throughout, pulling each detail together. The kitchen cabinetry was replaced with driftwood floating shelves and marble countertops. It was kept light and bright with pops of color and an eye catching palm feature wall. Touched off with classic, brass hardware throughout the home, and drop pendant light fixtures. The client was extremely satisfied with the interior design project.
