The renovation of this classic Muskoka cottage, focused around re-designing the living space to make the most of the incredible lake views. This update completely changed the flow of space, aligning the living areas with a more modern & luxurious living context. In collaboration with the client, we envisioned a home in which clean lines, neutral tones, a variety of textures and patterns, and small yet luxurious details created a fresh, engaging space while seamlessly blending into the natural environment. The main floor of this home was completely gutted to reveal the true beauty of the space. Main floor walls were re-engineered with custom windows to expand the client’s majestic view of the lake. The dining area was highlighted with features including ceilings finished with Shadowline MDF, and enhanced with a custom coffered ceiling bringing dimension to the space. Unobtrusive details and contrasting textures add richness and intrigue to the space, creating an energizing yet soothing interior with tactile depth.

Located in the heart of Sevenoaks, this beautiful family home has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, of which Burlanes were commissioned for, including a new traditional, country style kitchen and larder, utility room / laundry, and bespoke storage solutions for the family sitting room and children's play room.

This very small hall bath is the only full bath in this 100 year old Four Square style home in the Irvington neighborhood. We needed to give a nod to the tradition of the home but add modern touches, some color and the storage that the clients were craving. We had to move the toilet to get the best flow for the space and we added a clever flip down cabinet door to utilize as counter space when standing at the cool one bowl, double sink. The juxtaposition of the traditional with the modern made this space pop with life and will serve well for the next 100 years. Like many older homes, this Craftsman lacked a main level bathroom. Powder rooms are the perfect opportunity to introduce a bit of updated color and pattern to a traditional home - they seem to welcome a little whimsy. Here, a modern sink, a round faceted mirror, and a wall-mounted soap dispenser off set a traditional penny round tile pattern. And as an added twist, a contemporary color pallet was chosen, introducing a more transitional, updated look.
