Our client wanted a comfy but stylish gathering space off the kitchen. One of their favorite places to visit was Africa. They get to recall their amazing trip every day with the oversized gallery wall. A sectional and chairs create a cozy place to read or watch tv. The oval shaped ottoman is easy to move around without any hard corners and the orange chairs swivel for good tv viewing. Beautiful swirled blue lamps shimmer in the natural light. A little play on theme with the animal patterned area rug.

This cozy living room area features a wood-burning stove, as well as a comfortable upholstered lounge chair and an elegant antique writing desk. WKD’s experience in historic preservation and antique curation restored this gentleman’s farm into a casual, comfortable, livable home for the next chapter in this couple’s lives. The project included a new family entrance and mud room, new powder room, and opening up some of the rooms for better circulation. While WKD curated the client’s existing collection of art and antiques, refurbishing where necessary, new furnishings were also added to give the home a new lease on life. Working with older homes, and historic homes, is one of Wilson Kelsey Design’s specialties. This project was featured on the cover of Design New England's September/October 2013 issue. Notting Hill is one of the most charming and stylish districts in London. This apartment is situated at Hereford Road, on a 19th century building, where Guglielmo Marconi (the pioneer of wireless communication) lived for a year; now the home of my clients, a french couple. The owners desire was to celebrate the building's past while also reflecting their own french aesthetic, so we recreated victorian moldings, cornices and rosettes. We also found an iron fireplace, inspired by the 19th century era, which we placed in the living room, to bring that cozy feeling without loosing the minimalistic vibe. We installed customized cement tiles in the bathroom and the Burlington London sanitaires, combining both french and british aesthetic. We decided to mix the traditional style with modern white bespoke furniture. All the apartment is in bright colors, with the exception of a few details, such as the fireplace and the kitchen splash back: bold accents to compose together with the neutral colors of the space. We have found the best layout for this small space by creating light transition between the pieces. First axis runs from the entrance door to the kitchen window, while the second leads from the window in the living area to the window in the bedroom. Thanks to this alignment, the spatial arrangement is much brighter and vaster, while natural light comes to every room in the apartment at any time of the day. Ola Jachymiak Studio

This garden room replaces an existing conservatory. Unlike the conservatory, the new extension can be used all year round - it is both light and well insulated - and does not suffer from noise when it rains. A glazed lantern (or cupola) allows light to reach the existing dining room (to which the garden room connects) and upon opening the automated windows, quickly removes unwanted warm air. Windows on three sides provide views of the terraced garden beyond. The building is formed with a Somerset Blue Lias stone base, rendered masonry and a traditional lead rolled roof.
