Yes, this is the actual color of the kitchen. It is in a summer cottage in Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) that is surrounded by woods (in fact, you get to the neighbors by going through a fairy-tale path through a woods) so the house itself needs to be bright and sunny. Would this be too much in a year-round house? For most people, probably yes. But it is absolutely uplifting and right in this situation. PS. The oven is built into the wall on the left, and the refrigerator is in a walk-in pantry to the left. Both had previously been within this kitchen footprint, making the room feel cramped (and allowing no room for the island.) Also PS, there is a 24" cabinet to the right of the sink which can be replaced by a dishwasher if and when the clients chose to use the cottage more regularly. Plan ahead.
