Who wouldn't want to hang out in this vibrant kitchen morning, noon, night and snack time? This rivetingly colorful kitchen never fails to wow. Appetite stimulating red cabinets feature wood knobs and pulls. There's island seating as well as a breakfast nook with a view and ample bench seating with extra storage. The custom maple countertops are polished on the sink side of the kitchen but unpolished on the kitchen island. Even interior designers need help when it comes to designing kitchen cabnetry. Lauren of Lauren Maggio Interiors solicited the help of RED PEPPER for layout and cabinetry design while she selected all of the finishes. New Orleans classicism and modern color combine to create a warm family space. The kitchen, banquette and dinner table and family room are all one space so cabinets were made to look like furniture. The space must function for a young family of six, which it does, and must hide countertop appliances (behind the doors on the left) and be compatable with entertaining in the large open room. A butler's pantry and scheduling desk connect the kitchen to the dining room.

This island was retro fitted with a fun red cabinet insert to add a splash of color to an otherwise uniformly colored kitchen. A pull-out utensil bin and dry goods bin pull-out were added to enhance functionality. False drawer fronts were used to create a drawer bank look.

Modern Traditional Kitchen for a lovely couple in the Bay Area. The Fieldstone and Forte paprika cherry cabinetry invite you into the kitchen and give warmth to the room. The Bainbridge door style used in this design is a beautiful traditional raised panel door with clean lines and details. The light natural tones from the polished porcelain floors by Emser Tile and the natural tones from the Havenwood chevron porcelain backsplash by MSI serve as a great accompaniment to the cabinetry. The pop in this kitchen comes from the stunning blue Cambria Skye countertop on the kitchen island and is a great complimentary color to the red tone radiating from the cherry cabinetry. The tall celings painted in Malibu Beige by Kelly Moore in this kitchen allow for a light an airy feel, and this feeling is felt even more by a mirrored backsplash in the Hutch area, as well as the diffused glass cabinet doors in the hutch and island cabinetry. Accents of polished chrome hardware from Top Knobs Hardware allow for a sparkle and shine in the kitchen that compliments the stainless steel appliances. All of these materials were found and designed in our wonderful showroom and were brought to reality here in this beautiful kitchen.

1. What Makes a Good Traditional Kitchen Design, and Why is it Important?

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

2. Consider Your Space to Determine Your Kitchen Layout

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? Can you allow yourself some more space and a big island with seating? Are you designing your kitchen from scratch or renovating an existing design? Which appliances do you already own and what are their measurements? Are there windows you need to take into consideration when planning cabinets? How do kitchen, living and dining areas connect? Depending on your space and needs, you want to use a shape that suits you. U, G, or L-shaped kitchen, with or without island or peninsula? Know your dimensions, plan cabinetry carefully and consider the placement of your appliances. You don’t want to end up with a finished design, only for your significant other to question where the fridge is supposed to go. Consider from the start where your fridge, oven, microwave and sink goes to save yourself from starting again from scratch - remember the kitchen work triangle! You also want to plan the layout of your cabinets. Maybe you’re planning for a pantry and can do with less storage space in your kitchen, so that your design can be one without upper or lower cabinets for a different look. A corner cabinet can be a smart storage solution if you want to keep the look clean and simple.

3. Decide on a Kitchen Style, But Don’t Forget Practicality

You want the style of your kitchen to reflect your personality and taste.
