This client moved from the West Coast, and we wanted to decorate with a touch of California cool. The family room was designed to be inviting for guests & comfortable for family time. The color palette was cool blues & greys with touches of natural textures. We accented the stunning vaulted ceiling with an airy, relaxed, open-weave light fixture. In the dining room, we wanted to continue the inviting vibe but we elevated the space with custom drapes in a windowpane fabric. The dining room is long and narrow and we emphasized the linear space with the table & chandelier. The boys bedroom features industrial details in the ever-popular blue & grey color scheme. The cowhide nightstand is a small but fun detail to make this room unique.

To honor their roots, this eclectic 2018 new build capitalizes on the couples’ personalities in many ways. With an affinity for geodes and rock formations, as well as keeping glass and organic elements in mind, inspiration is evident in every room. The couple’s Colorado background encouraged we incorporate refined western nods throughout the residence, while sophisticated features of transitional and traditional designs. Each room was designed with consideration of the clients’ love of color except the master bedroom and bath suite, which was done in soothing neutrals.
Making Room for Peace
For the painted brick wall, we decided to keep the decor fairly natural with pops of color via the plants and texture via the woven elements. Having the T.V. on the mantel place wasn’t ideal but it was practical. As mentioned, this is the where the family gathers to read, watch T.V. and to live life. The T.V. had to stay. Ideally, we had hoped to offset the T.V. a bit from the fireplace instead of having it directly above it but again functionality ruled over aesthetic as the cables only went so far. We made up for it by creating visual interest through Rebecca’s unique collection of pieces.

At every turn in their house, the homeowners wanted unique finishes and features to catch your eye. Every room has its own sense of scale and proportion with a material palette that accentuates it and at the same time allows it to blend with the rest as one composition. This can be seen in the 25’ tall living room with its Coronado stone clad fireplace, in the round dining room with its domed painted ceiling that looks onto the feature oak tree, and in the kitchen/keeping room with its blend of art stone walls, natural wood stained cabinets and beams. To top it off, is a man cave with a unique bar area and an illuminating countertop of “Caesarstone Concetto Brown Agate” back-lit with LED lighting. From an energy savings standpoint, LED lighting is used throughout, and a solar panel system is installed on much of the south facing roof that supplements the home’s energy consumption. All in all this home exceeds the owners’ desires and expectations for their dream home.

Forward Design Build Remodel
Our client’s goal was to connect the kitchen with the family room for ease of conversation across the room while entertaining, cooking, reading and spending time together.
Our plan to connect the kitchen and family room included eliminating most of the wall between the spaces and adding a peninsula island that would serve as working space on the kitchen side, and seating on the family room side.
Our design also included new lighting, new furniture, and new flooring throughout the first floor. We also remodeled the first floor powder room and second floor guest bathroom with a completely new look.
