“I have worked with Big County Builders on a couple projects and trust not only the integrity of how the business is run, but also the innovative thought that goes into the project. Josh not only worries about execution, but also thinks about design, logistics, cosmetic and aesthetics. This is important to me. I don't always have the know how, but have the idea of what I want and Josh always seems to find a way to fit the design of what I am thinking. He asks the right questions and talks about the important things. He does great work and would always recommend him!”

“From start to finish a great experience with a terrific result. Seth and his crew impressed us daily with their responsiveness, efficiency, and excellent work. In an old house there are always challenges, what you might expect and what you don’t, and every solution they came up with made the overall project even better. It was a lot to manage, especially during a year with shortages of building materials and subcontractors booked out for months. Yet SGK made everything come together. This is a talented and professional group, not to mention a pleasure to have around. Their respect for us, our home, and our wishes would assure them as our first choice for another job.”

“Saridel has done multiple projects for us. He has done both our bathrooms and our kitchen, which is now a showpiece that wows everyone that steps foot into our house. These projects were complete remodels down to the studs of a very dated home. His work is second to none. He is an extremely talented carpenter who is completely trustworthy and will give you exceptional quality work, with straight forward and reasonable pricing. You never have to worry about leaving your home unattended when he is there. His innate design experience allows for collaborative input and the end result is straight out of Maine Home Design magazine. Hire with complete confidence.”

“Dave is an exceptional designer and builder. His knowledge and execution of a plan are professional, accurate and completed with integrity. His talents as a designer and hands on builder are remarkable. His versatility in his abilities to design and build traditional homes as well as more modern-style homes of every size is impressive. I am convinced he can do anything! I found Dave to be patient, kind and trustworthy. He was always willing to hear design ideas and take things out of the box when I wanted to while keeping me within the box when I needed to. He only uses respectful and skillful crew memebers that appear to be loyal to him and admired by them.. I have never felt in better hands with the most important financial and emotional project of my life. I would do another project with Dave in a second! -Julie and her dog Novia”

“I highly recommend Greater Portland Renovations. Originally, they did a rot repair job for us. Moisture got in under or front door and caused rot. They arrived to do the work on the scheduled day at the time promised. Even though the rot spread a bit further than expected, the cost remained within the estimated range. I was so impressed with the integrity of the company and kindness of the workers, that I also decided to hire them to install new hardwood floors in our home. As they were doing the job, they came across more rot under the back door, which we had no idea about. They took everything in stride. They repaired the issue right away, and charged us a reasonable amount to repair it. Our old floors were both glued and nailed down with a nail about every half inch of flooring. This was by means no easy job. They still managed to finish the job quickly, as they knew we were trying to sell our home. The floors were installed perfectly, and look amazing. I would recommend Greater Portland Renovations to ANYONE!!!”

“As a real estate professional, it isn’t uncommon to walk through a property that you wish was yours... This is exactly what happened to me the day I walked through one of Brush and Hammer Builders spec homes in Portland, Maine. I quickly brought my husband back, and with little convincing we quickly signed a contract to hire them as our builders to make this dream a reality. One of the first things that stood out to me about Anthony and Adam was their attention to detail and passion for their craft. I was completely floored by their selection of finishes, carpentry and ability to work with you to ensure they were creating the space you envisioned. In my case... this was an open kitchen design with lots of storage, and a walk-in butlers pantry with a counter top and floating shelving. While my husband didn’t think it could happen, they proved otherwise, and have created a space for me with beautiful, high quality cabinetry, custom navy island end panels, and the pantry exactly as I imagined. Anthony and Adam have experience in design, are organized, wonderful communicators, and have a fantastic process that results in an incredible product. If you are considering building a home, or looking to them for kitchen design, I would encourage you to set up a meeting today. Thank you Brush and Hammer, and Maine Cabinet Company for our dream home!”

“JPs team at Blackbird has done projects for our family including: - Rebuilding the foundation and renovating our 1930s Northern Maine lakeside camp - Tightening up, staining, painting, and general upkeep for my family's 1870s oceanfront home - Bringing the exterior of my parents' 1920s Tudor home in the New York City suburbs into the 21st Century + interior painting - Re-siding and shoring up our historically significant 1800s post and beam barn - The complete exterior renovation of our 1786 historic home in Portland, Maine including massive reconstruction of rotted woodwork and meticulous reproduction of one-of-a-kind trim and siding. If six stars were available as a rating, Blackbird would have earned each one 10 times over. JPs work exceeds every possible expectation from customer service and interaction to hand-milling the necessary clapboards for our historic renovation, from building a gorgeous and indestructible woodshed to entertaining our children (and dogsitting our wacky Labs!). Whatever project you have, large or small, expect delightful interactions with a skilled craftsman and consummate professional. His detailed budgets have been spot on, with room to accommodate all but the most unexpected hidden conditions (e.g. structure-threatening rot uncovered beneath seemingly solid clapboards -- which JP handled impressively). For any future work we need, we will wait as long as we need to until JP is available to do the project. After our experiences with him, we'd never take our business anywhere else.”
