Help with study room

Have rearranged our study a few times but still not quite satisfied with how it looks now. Wanted to include our guitars and keyboard in the same space, just not sure how to pull the whole look together. Any suggestions please? What can we do to brighten up the room abit? Thanks

Would need better photos of the entire room. If all we see of the room is in this picture let us know. It appears very small.

For a room so small, you really need to get smaller items if you want to include your key board and guitars. Take out the large bookcase and get a smaller one. Are all those books necessary? Get a couple of smaller filing boxes that you can slide under the work table. Scan your important doc's and start shredding. Hang the guitars on the walls and put keyboard against the wall after you get rid of that huge bookcase. The room need major de-cluttering. I worked for years out of a home office and it can get the better of you.

Obviously more storage is needed...picture is difficult to see what your space looks like..two observations are there is no use of upper wall space..and no decor..( no art..no color..) wall display of your instruments with seating if you wish to use the room for music are a start...

The market is full of tropical/botanical art at the moment which lend themselves well to tropical or beachy looks. The look you are after calls for natural textures with a soft colour palette, think linen bedding and layer it up with throws and cushions for texture and pops of colour. In my opinion drapes are not a good option in your room as the ceiling slopes to just above your window at a certain point. This would dictate the height at which your drapes hang and, in this instance would be too low. To soften the windows, I would have a tall palm or Fiddle Leaf Fig tree in wicker basket. It also looks like you have the space for a chair.

An entire wall of built-in cabinets and hooks and cubbies for your crafting stuff (and perhaps filing-type stuff and printer for the office). Take a good look at what you have and think about how best to organize and store it and what could be displayed to be pretty and what should be hidden behind curtains or doors. A fold down ironing board on a wall or back of a door somewhere would be great. A nice desk and filing cabinet for the office side... or perhaps a great big table in the middle under the window, wide enough to function for both of you facing each other? A nice curtain rod would make a big difference too. Preferably just about floor to ceiling. I'd put a splash of colour on the walls and keep the curtains simple, but you could go vice-versa too. Help with living room layout

We recently moved into a new house with a separate living room. It’s an awkward space due to having two doors and a set of French doors and I’m finding the layout particularly challenging. As we haven’t had a separate living room before and can use our existing furniture in other parts of the house, we are in a position to buy new lounge furniture and are considering a sectional sofa or a sofa with two armchairs. I would love to hear your advice on layout!

thanks susan2494. indeed, the space is rather small - 100 sq ft. the whole room is in the picture. Its really great to have an outside perspective. You got me thinking about the bookcase size. If we get a scanner, then we might take out the filling cabinet. Yah! Thanks again susan2494.
