Comments (24)Oh so cool you noticed that we're trying to achieve a french country/industrial look or did we write that somewhere? I've attached some other photos of a bedroom and the foyer (of those we've taken so far), but are absolutely open to suggestions on a "beachy" feel as well or instead of. Although because its a beach house we don't want to go over board on expense and hence keeping what we already have, and just adding personality to it, if you get what we mean. Comments (10)Thanks for that AJ Interiors. Yes we have painted chimney breast (white- same as walls) We have a bought a huge dark grey mirror (metal) which has a slightly industrial feel but also in a traditional French style shape (I'm not describing this very well!) the two combinations will hopefully work well in a tradition villa, giving it a modern look. But we really need an injection of colour to lift everything. Am looking for some copper/metallic bedside lights. Quite like this copper lamp from Citta . https://www.cittadesign.com/home/living-room/lamps-light-shades/guarida-table-lamp-wmetal-shade-IIE0005...See MoreNeed inspiration for newly-bought home – help!!!!!
Comments (11)Yes to all those ideas. I believe your cladding is unpainted concrete bricks (is it called Summerhill Stone?) in that (boring) fawn colour. My house is same but was painted by previous owners. It looks so much more up to date and the surface is lasting very well; no signs of peeling or flaking. So despite needing to maintain a painted surface, I think painting is the way to go. Alternative is a costly plaster job. Then the entrance - yes, wide generous steps onto a wide deck or patio, some vertical or horizontal slatted panels for protection or privacy as needed, clear roofing for protection and to allow light to the rooms. And paint the front door a vivid color to indicate the entrance. Just make this area feel generous! Dependent on the adjacent rooms and which direction the house faces opening up one or more of those windows into sliders or stackers would be great. Plants in big pots are good too, add colour and texture - and you already have some there. Good luck - I love the idea of turning an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan!...See MoreChoosing exterior colours
Comments (0)Are there any rules to follow regarding choosing exterior colours, ie, someone once told me that there should never be more than three colours, regarding the roof, walls and trims. Building a modern monoplane roof house on the coast. Like the idea of either Gull Grey or New Denim Blue for the metal roof. The interior pallette will be whites, inky navy, greys. Drawn towards grey for the weatherboard walls or white, prefer a black door. Although this is a modern house we are trying to inject a bit of modern farmhouse decor inside. Any help appreciated, thanks...See Moreminnie101
