Thanks houssaon and rinqreation! Funny - hubby has the same 2 door hate! It sounds like I'm being outvoted on the shared ensuite idea. :) We've actually been set on both the configurations you suggested, we moved away from yours houssaon because we really wanted to keep a closed off office space (and hubby built the front deck and landing already for the door at the end of the hallway!). And I don't know why we shifted the door on the bedroom back to the same area, I think it was about having easy access to all the kids bedrooms. But maybe we should shift it back as you suggest rinqreation. Joice, the door at the end of the hallway is the front door, the entrance closest to the street, that you would come to first if you were a visitor. Not totally necessary, but we reinstated it before we decided we wanted the entrance up the stairs (middle bottom) which would be under a carport. Thanks for all your input!! Have lived in places with a tiled window -- tile the sides and top as well as the ledge, so that you go right up to the caulk/frame/glass. Works to let out some steam and store shampoo too!

If you can narrow the linen cupboard, then you do do a similar layout to that GB has shown but with a changed door swing, swap the basin and WC, putting the WC on the wall beside the door so the WC is concealed behind the door.

Depending on latches and fixing area, etc - you could get a good glazier with a bit of finesse to custom make a mirror to fit into the window area, and then just centre the vanity below the window. Provided the window glass is obscure, it will still look like a window from the outside, but you'll have an interesting recessed mirror in your bathroom! (hope that makes sense) But, If you want a seperate shower then it looks like you'll have to alter a lot of plumbing anyway, so you might as well move the vanity while you're at it.
