Fabric .. Help plan!

I am obsessed with fabric, made all the curtains and my kids rooms, usually always make pillows etc. this is the family room in our new house, and I am stumped. In the conversation below I will try to attach my inspiration fabrics, I'm just having trouble picking three or four they go together. I want a fabric to make cushions for the benches, and coordinating throw pillows.thank you!

Comments (8)Just wanted to post the most recent plan that incorporates all of the suggestions that I have received from the very helpful people on the Internet! Changes made: - added an extra bathroom on far left of the house near kids bedrooms - changed the toilet/main bathroom to move the shower over to the toilet room so that we could have 2 separate kids showering at a time (without coming into our room - although that remains and option) - moved the door to the library so that it doesn't look into the toilets/bathroom - optimised the space in our bedroom by moving walk in closet and bathroom around. This modification even allowed us room for a tub in the bathroom a so thankful for that suggestion! Now we just have to find room in the budget lol Questions: - when you walk into a bathroom, do you prefer to walk into a shower (from the door) or into a toilet? What would you prefer visible from the door itself? Logically you are going to use a toilet 9 times out of 10 so you would think that should be there first, but there is something odd about walking past a door and just seeing a toilet there... Thoughts? - is there enough room in the 2 bathrooms we created by joining the toilet and main bathroom? Dimensions are 3m by 2m (roughly) and with a shower coming out about 1m and the vanity about 550mm, that leaves more or less 1.45m to walk around, surely sufficient? If there are any other suggestions or thoughts on what you would do if this was your home we would greatly appreciate the feedback. Comments (2)Personally, it's better to have a wall between the bathroom and the toilet so no one gets walked in on. Definitely a good idea to keep the bath in case of reselling, although are you planning on going anywhere? Comments (1)I can't get the picture to blow up big enough to see much , but unless you are running a backpackers , I would suggest 1 bathroom for 3 bedrooms would be all you need , in fact unless you are having a 'grannie flat' or similar built in , I would think that 2 bathrooms and a 3rd powder room with its own handbasin would be all you really need . Of course , more is more luxurious , so having a second ensuite is good , having a shower and WC in every room has advanatages , mind you so does having another with a bath and twin showers , 3 seperate WC's in case you have 100 people visit , a seperate spa room with its own shower and toilet , a sauna , an outside pool with its own male and female changing rooms with showers -- in other words , do what YOU want once you get past the basics . And I'm not a fan of two doors from 2 bedrooms into a bathroom -- especially if there is a bath or shower and a toilet -- it relies on everyone working together , but also on everyone pushing the right combo of locks so that there's no accidental walking in on someone ....See More

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoI think they feel too country cottage for your room and don't compliment each other or your room's style. Find one fabric you absolutely adore (maybe start with a pattern with a few colors and work from there, so there is a bit of repetition. Also think about the feeling you want and look for fabrics that bring that into the room. Tired to show examples of fabrics that felt casual and with an earthy feel, given it seems you like flowers.

8 years agoMaureen I like your choices. I've seen some of those over the months... Can't remember where. Maybe tonic living? Like the idea of houndstooth... Maybe on the bench cushions.
I so agree that wall needs something. We just finished building so I really need to decorate and put personality in the room. Was thinking a narrow long sideboard with a collage wall above.
I do like a soothing tranquil space. Maybe a pop of color. I'm drawn to coral.
The wall color is Ben Moore moonshine .

8 years agoBrenna, I've always loved fabrics as well..even when I shop for clothes I reach out to touch the fabric to test the quality! Your choices look much more modern than the originals. Wondering though if the floral and the stripe again feel a touch country..what about an Ikat pattern instead of the floral and a more modern stripe?

7 years agoWhat a beautiful space! Based on your selections this is what I would choose. This has a mix of movement, geometrics and a solid in a different texture. These are all from Tonic Living.
