Now for Mr 16 months... I really can't decide. His room is going to be on the cold side of the house, with not so much sun so I want it to get that cozy sort of feeling when you come into it. You never know what you will find and it is very, very fun to look and learn about the incredible things people fabricate. One nice item that comes to mind that I have seen on Etsy are "Beach blankets". I did not know about them because, I've never lived by water or the beach but, apparently if you live by water you always want a big, light weight fabric to use to sit on or to stretch on poles to shield you from too, much sun. I f there was a big "beach blanker" that you liked enough, it could be in your room as an extra blanket, throw or as a window covering perhaps. Maybe this is kind of an exotic option for you at your age but, I think its never too, soon to attune ourselves to culture and the arts and interesting ideas from across the world. Also, on Etsy (not bedding) are wall murals. My client's son Max wanted to feel part of the woods so, I found and he and his dad installed an incredible mural. So, that might be fun for you to explore too. I am showing the one they picked here. We did not stick to any kind of bedding collection. Instead we bought a big combination of Max's favorite "Forest Colors". See bed picture for example. Think outside the box, have fun!

Just wanted to post the most recent plan that incorporates all of the suggestions that I have received from the very helpful people on the Internet! Changes made: - added an extra bathroom on far left of the house near kids bedrooms - changed the toilet/main bathroom to move the shower over to the toilet room so that we could have 2 separate kids showering at a time (without coming into our room - although that remains and option) - moved the door to the library so that it doesn't look into the toilets/bathroom - optimised the space in our bedroom by moving walk in closet and bathroom around. This modification even allowed us room for a tub in the bathroom a so thankful for that suggestion! Now we just have to find room in the budget lol Questions: - when you walk into a bathroom, do you prefer to walk into a shower (from the door) or into a toilet? What would you prefer visible from the door itself? Logically you are going to use a toilet 9 times out of 10 so you would think that should be there first, but there is something odd about walking past a door and just seeing a toilet there... Thoughts? - is there enough room in the 2 bathrooms we created by joining the toilet and main bathroom? Dimensions are 3m by 2m (roughly) and with a shower coming out about 1m and the vanity about 550mm, that leaves more or less 1.45m to walk around, surely sufficient? If there are any other suggestions or thoughts on what you would do if this was your home we would greatly appreciate the feedback. Thanks you all so much in advance!

Work with teen for the grand plan! Put in this website search box: teen... Look at teen magazines at the library for cool ideas. Think about colors, shapes, patterns. Your creativity has no barriers! Use two color combos that are easy to mix and match. Paint walls, furniture, etc. Think outside the box. Paint a desk two different colors - one on the frame and the other on the drawers. Paint an all over pattern on a tall skinny section of a wall. If you don't want to commit to paint yet, see what it'll look like with dollar store wrapping paper taped to wall. Make pretend wallpaper with paint and a stencil. "Shop" in your house before you go out. Sometimes we have stuff in one room (or basement/attic) that can be used in another. Look for fun, kitschy, or unique items, for visual interest, and for conversation pieces Go to garage sales and thrift stores for big picture books. Use for prints for wall art. Get frames there also, or at dollar store. Get dollar store wrapping paper that is really pretty, interesting, or geometric. Frame it for wall art. Look for bulletin boards at garage sales. Paint frame and use dollar store wrapping paper for cork part. Attach with rubber cement or similar glue. Look for throw at garage sales or thrift store in bright color. Fold long way and put at end of bed. Build a wish list and take it with you when you go out.
