Above-ground pools, love 'em or hate 'em?

This dated garden had previously boasted an in-ground pool, circa 1970's. The pool is long gone but the original pool house and code-compliant pool fencing remain. The current owners are a budget-conscious family who are jumping at the chance to have a pool in their back yard. Above ground pools are certainly much kinder on the budget than an in-ground pool. But can above-ground pools be cleverly disguised enough to look good? What do you think? Will keep you posted on my design progress ...

Personally I think you are better to wait until you can afford to put back an in ground pool as the one's that I have seen sitting above the ground look like an eye sore - a temp pool - that looks like it could collapse at any time. Maybe while you save for the bigger project you could rent / buy a large Spa Pool.
