Susan - Thanks for your question. These are limestone outcrop steps. They have an irregular front edge which can be hard to negotiate. Another option is is a u inform cut stone step with a straight front edge or a fake material the replicates stone. The advantage of some fake stone steps is that they weigh less. Limestone is 170 pounds per cubic foot.
