should we paint these walls?
Comments (4)Yes.. I think you should paint, but... Why not lime wash the walls so you keep the look of timber and get the light, on trend Scandinavian aesthetic. I would go for a very light grey tint with a bright white ceiling and trim. Your fireplace and the deer would be great with this look: a rug and some white and grey cushions of differing textures would bring it all together. Coffee table candles would complete the Scandinavian look. Great room by the way!...See MoreKitchen Trends 2016/2017 – The Latest Kitchen Talk

Comments (10)Without knowing any more info , I'd say its near impossible for anyone but you to know what colour/s to choose -- do you want the house to blend in but have its own style , or do you want it to stand out ? What colours are your main furniture items and even kitchen etc ? For xxample , if keeping the beige walls , how about doing the eves and gutters and garage door in a tangy ( bright , but not glaring ) orange -- this would work with the existing colours and not require a complete repaint . BUT if your kitchen was mainly various shades of , say , green and teal , and your lounge suite and duvet covers were mainly blue hues , that may 'feel' funny , clashing with the exterior ? Of course , blue and beige exterior may not work with the brown aluminium , as youve recognised . Another option ( a bit hard to tell from the pictures ) is that a light grey ( repaint the beige ) with mid-charcoal base boards may work with the brown aluminium , then a bright colour on the gutters and front and rear doors to suit -- anything from sea blue to bright yellow , orange , red , even white or off-white would probably work ....See MoreWhat should I expect from a painter?
Comments (0)Hi everyone. Last October we booked a painter to repaint the exterior of our house. He estimated that he would start late February. Late February came and went, and in early March I sent him an email to see how he was going. No reply. I left a message on his phone. No reply. I finally managed to get him on the cell phone, and he said that he was 2-3 weeks away. No sign of him at the end of March. I sent him another email. No reply. I've texted him, and no reply. Am I expecting too much to think that I should not have to chase the painter like this? I'm getting concerned that as the weather gets worse the job is going to take longer and so will cost me more (we are paying for scaffolding by the week). It's starting to stress me out. Should I just cancel with this guy and try to find someone else to help, possibly for next summer?...See MoreVy
