Comments (7)This is a really awkward space! What about trying to build a unit into the corner which seems to be dead space. This could house the television and other bits like dvr,amp etc. The unit could then extend out towards the door in length and in height either up to the start of the window or up to the start of the blinds. I would suggest drawers for toy storage and books above. In this way you leave the windows clear for light plus it looks like you have a pull down screen so the tv would be out of the way of that. This arrangement would also hide all those wires and cables! Comments (1)We have been renovating an 80's home with a vaulted roof in the living/kitchen/dining area, something like your picture. We needed to make the space look bigger so we opted to hang our tv from the roof using an Adtec tv bracket in white, pretty nifty unit, all wiring, aerials etc go up the mounting pole and through the roof. The unit also swivels 360 degrees which is great for any view point in the room, including our outside area. We had a tv unit custom built by Jarramar Furniture which is like a rather large floating cupboard. The unit has 2 draws and one cupboard. All the cords etc come down the wall in the adjoining room behind the door, neatly packed into duct and back into the back of the floating cupboard. It's very neat and tidy, keeps everything off the ground and makes your space look bigger. Both Adtec and Jarramar have websites where you can check out their stuff. The dining and living rooms have been opened up with a wall removal. some of the walls will be painted but the stairway and wall leading into the dining room will be difficult to achieve a paint finish. 7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoInstead of hanging artwork or a shelf, have you considered a textured wallpaper like a natural grasscloth. It has a softer three dimensional feel and may add a lot to a room where all the walls are painted. Also I would change out the sconces for swing arm lamps. This way you can remove the table lamps giving you more space on your side tables. Also lower the swing arms so that they are more useful as reading lights. If you need more general lighting possibly add some LED high hats on dimmers. Looking forward to progress shots!

7 years agoTry the dining room tree art over the sofa, remove all the little stuff on walls in living room and make a collage of them in the dining room....this way you can repurpose and be economical at the same time. That being said, I would pick the brightest color out of the tree art and another bright color out of your easy chair and do solid intensly saturated with color pillows. If you want a more modern look, you could hang your curtains from the ceiling after adding one of your pillow colors in fabric bands to the curtains so they touch the floor. This will add a bit more color to the room and therefor more interest and detail.

Lots of options, but try to keeps colors down to two or three, work toward a paired look in color shape and or size.
