ruth, indoor 'gardens' ... largely depends on where you reside. in india, one either has to have an 'open to sky' (punctured ceiling) area, with a reasonably deep pit for the soil. the open to sky could be covered with a poly carb sheet, depending on the annual weather conditions. indoor plants like ficus benjamina, nuda or aglonemas would be recommended.
This is an awesome idea and beautiful. How did you waterproof the area to prevent moister from entering the surrounding area and also drown excess water?
ALL LOGICAL QUESTIONS. there is a polycarb sheet for the roof, that permits light, but prevents rain. its lovely to hear the rain on this sheet. a cavity of 10' x10' x 6' (D) was first constructed, with an outlet to drain out excess water, before planting the ficus.
