These clients had a tiny back garden area that really underperforming. The patio was too small for their dining table, and did not incorporate space for their barbeque. The small lawn required high maintenance and was soggy in winter. We removed the existing patio and lawn and replaced them with a contemporary floating deck. This created easy indoor-outdoor flow and the clients now treat this space as an extension of their living room for dining and relaxing. We painted the timber fences with a soft grey which softens them and connects them to the house. Plantings are structural and low maintenance with the ability to add seasonal colour for an easy change of look. Planting below the deck adds to the feeling that the deck is 'floating.' In time, the plantings will screen the timber fences and retaining wall.
