Yes the colour is unusual, but it is indeed Castlemaine slate. We hand selected this batch direct from Pyrenees Quarries; there was a limited quantity available from a particular seam that had a lot of green & blue tones present. It also has chips & shards of pyrite embedded in the face which also enhanced the unique character of the stone. The client is an archaeologist and wanted to use a local product with personality, so she was really happy when we were able to source something so individual for her!
Correct! The whole team at Pyrenees are super helpful, and if you are sourcing slate for a project and have the option to visit them, I'd highly recommend the trip to Castlemaine.
