My least favorite is the one on the far right (chatroom?), but honestly they are all nice.....I could live with any of them.

Although if you want a fresh look, I would throw out #2, as that one appears to be closest to your current color. Cute townhomes!! I love the variety of color.

#3 is not in the same warm color family as the other colors. Any of the other four could look okay next to each other.

I was going to say throw out Chatroom based on the monitor colors, but I looked it up in my SW fan deck, and it is a nice gray (looks green on my screen). I would eliminate number 3 but agree with carriebear that I could live with any of them.

Brickwood Builders is right, the #5 chatroom paint card pictured is deceiving......I think the color would look much better (and not pea soup) in person/on the house. Here are a few examples showing chatroom as the main siding color. I really like it!

I also agree that any of them would work but #1 is my least favorite. It looks too peachy on my monitor.

Haha! I had the same "pea soup" first impression of #5, but did a complete 180 after seeing examples of it on a house. I think it went from my least favorite to my favorite. ;-)

Thanks everybody! Yeah I was hoping for some input from people who've seen similar colors before. Looking at them on a screen just doesn't do it justice sometimes.....

I'm personally leaning towards voting no for #3 right now.

#3 would stick out like a sore thumb amongst the others so I'd eliminate it. The other colors play well together as neighbors.

While this was a well-intentioned gesture on the part of the contractor, it's not something anybody should ever do.

Never, ever tweak an exterior color. Also, never, ever talk the painter or paint store into mixing an interior-only color into an exterior base; most all of them know better but some will do it just to shut the designer/stager up and get them out of their store.

Recently posted similar info on a home stager's forum about yellows for front doors and one lady really didn't appreciate the information. She insisted there was no such thing as interior and exterior colors. That you could use any color exterior and that "her guys" at "her paint store" mix any color she wants for exterior. Might be true but I'd never go to her paint store and it's a good thing she's a home stager and not a paint color expert. She's probably gotten away with it because the houses she specifies colors for are sold and the new owners likely blame the previous owners, not the stager who did it, for failing paint/color choices. But I digress (sorry).

Exterior colors are tested and rated for LRV, light-fastness and other stuff I don't remember. When you tweak a color, you alter its "DNA" and it becomes another color. A color that has not been tested and rated for exterior use.

I realize there are a lot of people who have done this and everything turned out fine for years and years. But I also know of many instances when it did not and some have even escalated to lawsuits. I know about the lawsuits because I'm often contacted to provide expert input about LRV on custom mixed colors.

No one ever "wins" and it all could have been avoided by simply choosing an exterior color from the stock choices available. Custom mixed colors for exteriors aren't worth the worry and hassle, folks.

Sawaya, this is absolutely ridiculous and makes no seance. LRV is simply a number that tells you how much the paint reflects light. The color of the paint does not affect the properties of whether or not the paint is "good" or "bad!!!"

You are correct that LRV tells you how much light energy the paint reflects and conversely how much it absorbs.

The color, the properties of the colorants, absolutely affects how a paint product will perform and how long it will last exterior. Making some color choices bad and some good.

Oh please, people "tweak colors" all the time. It's all exterior paint.

Apparently, you meant your contractor gave you a choice of colors until you found one you liked. I apologize, I should not have assumed you were talking about the paint color formula.
