thank you Mel, please see attached plan. Our house is very small, so we keep the table against the wall during the week to make it feel more spacious. the plan attached is slightly out of date. We did a small alteration to make the indoor /outdoor flow better which can be seen in the first picture with the double bi fold doors to outdoor area.

Are the pendants over the dining room table centred above the table when it's pulled out or when it is against the wall?

Would it be possible to take some more pics, perhaps from the drink cabinet end looking towards the kitchen, and a few different angles? I was thinking if your house is small a large mirror would be great to make it seem larger and lighter, but I'm not sure that it would work above the drinks cabinet because it looks like it would reflect a laundry? Perhaps the picture that is above the table could go above the drinks cabinet and a large ornate mirror above the table??

I also noticed you said you have the table against the wall 'during the week' - does that mean you perhaps pull it out when you entertain on weekends, or what? Do you just have it off centre to the lights when you pull it out? Personally I think the pendants have been put in a very awkward place for interior design.

I also definitely like the idea of rugs, but its hard to know where to suggest without more pics.

As far as curtains/blinds go, I would usually suggest curtains for the stackers/bifolds at the end, and roman blinds in the matching fabric for the other window, but looking at the bifolds there doesn't seem to be very much space on the left hand side to pull a curtain to, and the doors are off centre so curtains may look odd.

This is just my two cents worth...Hopefully some great interior designers will give you some ideas here.

I really can't get a sense of your rooms from the plan- it looks like you have 2 living areas?

The table- is it an extension table? I can see a panel in it. I'd be 'shrinking' it down again and potentially swinging it around to run it the other way.

As robandlyn said- more photos would help.

Just looked at the plan you posted, all the furniture is pushed back to the wall?, is this to give more space or do you have large gatherings, some beautiful lights similar to yours with the table away from the wall

Hi Mel, I agree with siriuskey. It seems a shame that the table is pushed against the wall as it a) limits the seating and b) "feels" quite awkward and cramped. From looking at your floorplan, it would seem that you have the space to pull it out, to the position shown on plan? It would mean re-positioning your lights, but I think would look a lot better. The same goes for the lounge/seating area - I would consider re-positioning the 2 armchairs (one with it's back to kitchen, the other opposite with its back to outdoor area) and adding a sofa under the window. It would mean repositioning your sideboard though. Consider a light large rug to delineate the lounge area and to also bring some light and texture into the room. I'd also consider a rug under the dining table, as you have a lot of dark timber which is pulling light out of the room
