Need advice: Can you use 2 different kitchen bench top surfaces?
Comments (5)There are many examples on houzz of contrasting counters for perimeter and island. For example butcher block on island and stone on perimeter or a solid color on one and something with movement on another. I would only mix two stones if one had movement and one was fairly solid. The stainless on perimeter and something else on island sounds good to me. Here is a pic of stainless counters with what looks like a stone breakfast bar. Comments (2)A company or contractors who install radiant floor heating might be able to help you. The idea i have is this : An electric heater that hugs the underside of the granite. Granite though is a dense rock. How thick is it. For a bench i'm thinking at least 1.5 to 2 inches. It might take a while to heat up though....See MoreA new countertop and backsplash for this kitchen
Comments (6)I would consider something light with some other colors to mix in like this. http://t.homedepot.com/p/Silestone-2-in-Quartz-Countertop-Sample-in-Mont-Blanc-SS-Q0220/203674451/ I like the wood paneling and would paint it a white with a warm feel to it. A white will reflect a lot of light from your large window. I wouldn't paint the window casing as it might tie in better with the rest of the house. Good luck!!...See MoreWhich vanity top (colour/material) doesn't go out of date?
Comments (4)You are so right white is never out of fashion. I would set your budget and then look at your options. If you plan to stay in the house for many years then spend to the top of your budget (if that is going to give you a life time of pleasure), if you plan on being at the home for only a short time / few years then I would go mid range so it looks lovely, will have good resale value but you can invest your well earned money to go towards something else as well. Obviously Marble / Granite is the top of the range but there are so many cheaper and very attractive options these days that look just as good....See MoreCorinne Dyer
