Well to be honest, I would try to figure out what you are looking for, look or function?
Most quartz and quartzite materials will hold up fine for a kitchen counter top. In some cases better than granite, depending on the stone itself. Now if you are talking about composite quartz stone material such as Ceaser Stone or Silestone ( to name a couple) it is a matter of design and taste. Do you have any specifics you are curious about?
The most important thing when its all said and done though is that you love your counter, to be honest.
Thank you for the response. I think I like the look of granite better then quartz or caesarstone but I'm concerned about the need to re seal and maintain the granite.
we just remodeled our kitchen and decided on granite. I looked at many samples of natural quartz and all were beautiful. quartz is very durable as is granite but it doesn't have a visual depth., it has a flat appearance. Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll love it!
If you purchase your granite at a granite manufacturer and not a home depot or lowes the manufacturer will usually include resealing your granite in the price. every 5 years.
Use a high quality sealer and a cleaner made specifically for stone and you should be fine. I recommend Bulletproof as your sealer and Revitalizer as your cleaner. Both products are made by Stonetech.
