I would not try someone who's income depends on making sales. High gloss floor tiles especially for bathrooms are not ideal since they lack grip once they get wet or when the bathroom is moist after a shower.

Thanks for your comments - The room is approx. 5m square - so not huge. The tiles being too busy for it is a concern I have too. It's very light and sunny - two of the walls are glass and slide back to the outside, one wall is French doors which lead inside the house and the other wall has windows looking into the house. The roof is louvre. Can't put up a picture as it's still being built! I'm still lusting after these tiles though...

Get the professional sander guys in to repair the living areas and kitchen but don't go too dark with the stain as it will kill the lovely grain in the matai. I'm thinking a couple of tones richer than the timber knots showing in your photo, definitely no yellow tone at all. In NZ stepping on to carpet especially in a kiwi winter is so much nicer than a cold floor board shock!!! A nice area rug for the lounge and you're done.

I was going to say. There's no way that carpet could be in here, especially when animals aren't always the best at making it to the bathroom in time. Great article!
