How many bedrooms do you need. When you say butlers pantry, do you just mean a pantry for storage, or a room with a sink. What is your house made of, brick walls or stud walls. Is the garage under the main roof. Which way is north. More info will help with design.

Also what are the actual measurements of the rooms eg: 3000mm x 4000mm, not the area as shown.

Lots of options

some initial ideas pending more information but you must first check with local council to clarify specific requirements for converting the garage and maybe adding an extension and/or new garage or carport and keep in mind that if you have the space it might be easier, more cost effective and a better long term investment to add an extension than the cost of changing windows and doors, adding floors, walls, wall and ceiling linings, electrical and plumbing in an existing concrete slab and you'll also need to manage the change in floor levels or raise the floor which may be necessary to change the use from garage to habitable room and, when adding the ensuite, it could also be useful to have garden access and etc etc??

It is a brick home Exterior with stud walls inside.
Butlers pantry doesn’t have to have a sink but bench space and power.
The kitchen window faces west.
We would like 4 bedrooms

We have a great view from our kitchen and lounge and currently we have a deck out the lounge door.
Our house is on a suspended slab.
The block is is not level and drives away at the back of the house. We have room under the house for a tool shed and storage. The space is quite open and will provide easy access for plumbing under the current garage.

We will need a carport built as our council requires houses have undercover parking space.

The current garage slab is level with the house slab- same, and won’t require separate drainage.

Is it ok to have dining table blocking walkways? I’m always unsure of this.

We would love to keep the view in the master bedroom by having windows on the west side.

my suggestions were aimed at minimal structural changes but if you're happy to add extra windows and there's underfloor access for plumbing i can try some other ideas but can you confirm the inside dimensions of the garage (including the location of the back door and are the garage walls lined with plasterboard on a timber frame, same as inside the rest of the house and isn't the hot western sun a problem in your area??...and why not test the dining table in the living area, to see if it will be a problem...moving it around to find the best location..

The garage is 6x6m

The only stud wall is the one that joins to the rest of the house- the rest are open brick in the garage.

The garage door out to the balcony starts 50cm from the interior wall joint to the rest of house.

Yep we do cope the afternoon sun but with our deck/balcony roofing it is ok. We also have roller shutters on bedroom and current dining room windows for in the summer.

Maybe we could have two smaller windows in the bedroom either side of a tv? To minimise the heat but we can still enjoy the view if we want to?

I think we will have to test the ding table out. It’s hard to imagine without moving furniture around

i expect the single brick garage walls to have engaged piers and be very surprised if the inside space was exactly 6m x 6m so strongly advise that you confirm precise dimensions of all spaces including location of doors (including architraves) and assume that you will add internal linings to the walls which will also use some space so my floor plan allows for some variation in the measurements but you can test the arrangements by moving the table to make the breakfast bar and also try the dining table in the new family room

Tell me the garage north wall is NOT on the boundary please! If it is we just have to miss out on all the beautiful free heating and sunlight that helps a home be so comfortable!

Here I have a plan with four bedrooms or a study to the west which could open to the deck. Laundry, bathroom and two bedrooms on south and east unchanged.

With all bedrooms together and depending on measurements the family room can convert to main bedroom using same sliding external doors if it needs to go west at all.

Kitchen now becomes half ensuite and half pantry. The dining table would be better in this position and adjust opening from entry to not interrupt it. Banquet seating might be a good option too.

The garage becomes living area on the north side of home with extended decking which I wondered if it could go around the garage to ground level at the front?

Something else to consider, not knowing what ages your family is made up of but this option consider the parents needs as well as allowing for family room access to the kids rooms. A generous dining which appears to be important to you. cheers

You mentioned loving open plan, so here, without correct dimensions I have used artistic licence. You would need to check any load bearing walls around the existing kitchen, this can be handled in a couple of ways one of which is support posts within the island, you would need to check with your builder
