I'd suggest talking to the manufacturer/supplier for full details.
It would depend if the brass is lacquered or unlacquered.
Lacquered may keep the original look longer and does not tend to break down by tap water. (Rain water and dust is another story!)
Unlacquered brass will patina over time through exposure to air and handling. You will need a rigourous cleaning routine to maintain the original finish (or just let it do it's beautiful thing!). Exposed to water, it does tend to corrode over time as the component metals break down, usually becomes a pink-ish colour.
