Do you want to improve functionality or appearance? It’s looks good as it. For appearances I’d fill in the garden beds with some more plantings, and you could also have pots.
Hi Helen, Agree with bigreader, adding pots at your front door and adding to the planting will look beautiful, I would go with white planters to keep with the theme, but add texture by using different foliage plants in them, keeping the planting uniformed to go with your standards , underplant them with Rhaphiolepsis indica ‘snow maiden’ a gorgeous glossy foliage plant with clusters of small white flowers during winter and spring that will look gorgeous against your white paintwork, restricting the planting by mass planting the one plant looks stunning, adding an up down light on wall could look great also.
It really depends on what you mean by improve? Do you mean make the front door more obvious so it stands out. Do you mean create more privacy around the front door. To me, the only issue is that there isn't a clear walkway to the front door visible from the street. You have an entrance that comes off the driveway and to the side. If you are wanting your front door to be more obvious then a simple solution would be to create a straight line pavement from the kerb to your front door for visitors and then paint the front door a contrast colour to draw attention to it. You could then put up a privacy screen across the front of the house using the existing pergola. That will give you a more prominent front door.
But otherwise the arrangement is pretty good as it is. It suits your style of house.
