Shared bathroom, doubles as ensuite, long narrow space! Help!
Comments (13)Thanks houssaon and rinqreation! Funny - hubby has the same 2 door hate! It sounds like I'm being outvoted on the shared ensuite idea. :) We've actually been set on both the configurations you suggested, we moved away from yours houssaon because we really wanted to keep a closed off office space (and hubby built the front deck and landing already for the door at the end of the hallway!). And I don't know why we shifted the door on the bedroom back to the same area, I think it was about having easy access to all the kids bedrooms. But maybe we should shift it back as you suggest rinqreation. Joice, the door at the end of the hallway is the front door, the entrance closest to the street, that you would come to first if you were a visitor. Not totally necessary, but we reinstated it before we decided we wanted the entrance up the stairs (middle bottom) which would be under a carport. Thanks for all your input!! It's really helpful to have some unattached opinions. I'm keen to hear from anyone else on the shared ensuite or 2 door hate question! :)...See MoreA taste of the tropics - before & after
Comments (0)The owner of this urban terrace house wanted the small backyard to be a mini-retreat that could be used as additional living space. By removing the lawn and extending the courtyard area slightly, space was created for a dining table and a sun-lounger with space to move around. A small utility area doubles as space for a productive vegetable garden. As planting space in the courtyard was limited, plants were selected that could add drama and lushness without taking up too much space. Bold colours and textures and strong vertical lines from the canna lilies and clumping palms create the feeling of a lush tropical retreat all-year round. The pine timber fence was stained with Resene Waterborne Woodsman "Iroko" which forms a rich backdrop to the courtyard. Comments (0)Hi everyone. I have a design dilemma. In our new compact ensuite we have to have a curved shower (sigh). Our product supplier popped in a square basin, which I'd not thought of but do like, however, I'm worried about a square basin looking odd with a curved shower. Thoughts? Also, before settling on a curved shower, I bought a herringbone mosiac tile for the vanity splashback. Does herringbone still work? Attached are the different design concepts (the actual herringbone tile is much smaller). Thanks for your help....See MoreKate
