Comments (3)I wish I could post links to pics of others' houses that are already on HOUZZ. Does anyone know how? I've been inspired by a project called "San Francisco Mid-Century Mix" on here....See MoreKitchen Reno for Retirement
Comments (13)These houses were designed to look good from the street, regardless of what the orientation was for the Sun. Everything depends on your budget and how far your prepared to go. A friend's house in Queenstown faced the street, the toilet and bathroom had the best view of the lake and the Sun. They got a house removal Coy in, jacked it up put it on the truck drove out and turned it around and reconnected all the services. It then faced the North and West great views and warmth, doubled its value in 3 days!. I replaced my storage water cylinder with a outside gas one, picked up enormous space in our laundry. Another tip is to draw up your "dream" plan, then overlay it over the existing and see what you can really do, your then not influenced by what is already there, and often get a much better insight and removed from the existing. Good luck, its very rewarding and make it fun!...See MoreHelp Needed: New Build Bathroom Fan/ Heat/ Lighting
Comments (1)I love three in ones because if one bulb explodes, you've usually got a fair few backups before you have to completely fix the bulb (but that's just the laziness in me coming out). In my opinion, I don't think you need a demisting mirror because that's what the fan is for in the three in one....See MoreSuggestions for my feature wall
Comments (3)Joanna Gains style is fun! What you choose for lighting and surfaces will determine the amount of reflective light in your stairway. The Architect is right in what he is suggesting "a decorative wall" could bring more light into the space. I believe you could apply this on principle....for example you could do a feature "Architectural Mirror"or lots of mirrors on the wall in the right position to reflect light in "Joanna Gain style" then in the same style add an eye catching pendant or wall lights depending on what is best functionally. Remember what you use on the ceiling & walls is important too every surface counts for your situation. Try a satin finish with a cool white like Dulux "St Clair Quarter" or Resene "Black White" Maybe Nancy's suggestions of a skylight is an option for your situation if it allows ? Natural Light is always great. Heres some inspiration...All the best!...See More
