bathroom/ensuite renovation
We live in a townhouse in Croydon with three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The idea is to create an ensuite for the master bedroom and move the bathroom by merging the bathroom and laundry. The laundry can go downstairs if needed.
This is what I was thinking:
Considering the shower and toilet are on the master bedroom side we can make a door there to access this. Redo the shower and toilet and put a little sink in there. Probably reduce the width of the shower cabin by 15cm. Build a wall on the other side.
Create the bathroom by keeping the bath in place and knocking down the wall between the laundry and bathroom and make that the main bathroom.
Somehow close up the laundry door or the old bathroom door and then also the door to outside.
Build shower, sink and toilet where now the laundry is, thinking of doing so against the wall where now the sink and washing machine is.

Obviously if you have considerable light and air the tile shade wouldn't be too much of an issue. Just a thought though , instead of paint ( its a bit hard for me to visualise everything from your description -- I am a visual person ) how about maybe those translucent blue looking tiles ( yes , I know , extra cost ) , you may even 'frame' them in the white tiles to tie in with the shower , or possibly do the blue instead of the white , or even do the shower in them , and have the rest your 'white' walls . Bathroom 2.64m x 2.44mWe were thinking for cost savings we could also redo the floor in the bathroom and then change the laundry into a second bathroom but then this means we don’t have the ensuite for the master.
Good point on talking to a real estate about this too.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agosubject to precise location of windows my suggestion has the ens and bathroom with their own windows for daylight and ventilation but you'll need to post a close up view of the old bathroom, master bedroom and downstairs workshop and garage with all measurements to work out the new laundry with potential laundry chute..the two new bathrooms appear reasonable but i'd expect to spend at least $20,000 to $30,000 or more depending on new fixtures and finishes.. careful salvage and recycling of old vanity, taps, bath etc might be worthwhile but sometimes the cost of the extra labour is more than buying new and converting the laundry to an extra bathrooom and replacing tiles in the old bathroom won't be that much cheaper and the ens is the best improvement and would improve comfort for the whole family as well as potential resale value
