What color walls for grey IKEA Bodbyn kitchen with gold brass accents?
I am getting the grey IKEA Bodbyn kitchen fitted. I will have burnished brass handles like this and not sure of countertop color. I think the quartz that has the bits of stones/marble in it in a light color or plain white. One wall will be tiled with these tiles from Floor and Decor (calacatta oro) from counter to ceiling. On the opposite wall, there is a glass cabinet like this and the fridge, and a shelf on an open wall. Oak floor. What color paint should I do? White ceiling. White walls? Or something else? Thanks!

Comments (121)I would suggest you take out the cabinet that is to the right of the stove and use it elsewhere in the house -- perhaps in the bathroom or dining room with a hutch above it. Then, I would suggest you have someone install a lazy susan cabinet in the corner between the sink counter and the stove, meaning you would move the stove down a bit and have a small cabinet/counter top to the right of the stove. I would suggest you have the cabinets refinished in white and then paint the walls a pastel you like. If you would prefer white walls, then add white-painted crown molding and paint the ceiling a light neutral blue, such as Sherwin Williams Niagara Falls Blue. Then, I would suggest you choose a favorite accent color and use this sparingly in accessories like towels, pot holders, small vases or floral arrangements, and a valence above the triple windows. For a genuine 1940s look, you might have white ceramic square tiles with a rectangular red border installed as a back splash behind and above the stove. If you are replacing counter tops, I would suggest a light color such as white with a beige or light grey vein or striation for some sort of pattern. What color did you guys had in mind?? isn't a lighter color suppose to open the room? Talianko and Hyde Evans and Shauna? ( I preferably will love a rustic lighter wood look, and the beams but does sound like a mission to get it done as sanding varnish on the ceiling might take me forever but if I get brave enough I might do it Sstar. Comments (19)congrats! first, sand prime and paint out those cabinets....i'd go with a grayish shade of white or pale gray that will work with the flooring. i'd also carefuly chip off the yellow tiles. since on a budget, consider applying some beadboard as your backsplash, painted in a glossy, oil based or marine paint in a crisp white to keep it scrubbable, then, dress up the edges with some small mouldings, painted in the same white paint. this is going to be SO MUCH less costly than tile! and it will look great with the butcher block countertop. you can probably refresh the butcher block with a light sand and oiling. you could even get an additional piece of butcher block (ikea) and create a step-up 'bar' for some stools on the peninsula for some casual seating. then get a pair of pendant lights to hang from the pot lights above (they make lights that insert directly into the pot light...no hardwire necessary)....See MoreBedroom colour? Yes we have painted chimney breast (white- same as walls) We have a bought a huge dark grey mirror (metal) which has a slightly industrial feel but also in a traditional French style shape (I'm not describing this very well!) the two combinations will hopefully work well in a tradition villa, giving it a modern look. But we really need an injection of colour to lift everything. Am looking for some copper/metallic bedside lights. 3 years agoIf you love grey don't worry about it "going out". I painted my cabinets a light grey before I learned it was the "in color". I have always loved grey. I painted my kitchen/dining room walls a dark grey. Just a suggestion to consider. I like contrast but don't want white walls.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoIMO if you love cool colors then gray will always be around I will never do beige or taupe I love gray.As for wall color you need to think about the surrounding areas and if they are open to the kitchen then the walls IMO should all be the same color. Please amke sure all your bulbs are LEDs in 4000K to make sure all the colors stay true.I do not like real stone next to quartz why not look at white granite for the counters and use it for the back splash too.BTW this is a kitchen I did with the Ikea dark gray high gloss cabinets and I matched the one wall to the cabinets to high light the view outside.
