Federation Entryway Transformation

The owners of this federation house wanted to totally transform and modernise the hallway but also tie in heritage details. To enhance and open up the entryway - they also wanted to add in a spiral staircase to a new attic area and wall off a bedroom.

We recommended removing the existing middle door and replacing it with a new plaster arch and corbels as well as a new dado rail. We also proposed a reconfiguration of the hallway to allow for a curved niche area to house a cast-iron spiral stair and a new wall to create a 4th bedroom.

We reinstated the plaster ceiling to match the original and keep the continuity of the heritage details, along with sanding and staining the original mismatched timber floors to achieve a dramatic look.

The final touch included a new and much brighter coat of paint, along with new pendant lights which created more of an openness and brightness to the space.
