We will need a scale floor plan of kitchen and rooms beyond to provide helpful suggestions. On thought is to make the bench along the window a little deeper than standard. It will cost more though.

As much as I love a scullery/ walk in pantry I wouldn’t sacrifice part of a garage for one.

thank you for your response. the only reason we are doing this is because it isn't long enough to fit our cars in that side of it, and we already have a garden shed for other items, so it is sitting there useless. we just had this idea to use it as a walk in butlers pantry because we need more kitchen space / bench space, and that garage space isnt being used.

please post a plan of the whole house and block of land including the side fences, any outdoor entertaining areas and the front driveway and how would you use the leftover part of the garage?

Another vote for using the dining room instead of the garage. A much more seamless sensible option.

The following gives access from the garage into the kitchen via the Scullery, a large 3m x 1m Island opening up to the family room with a possible dining room off the kitchen. Without knowing the aspect, this could allow extra light and ventilation back into the kitchen.

Thanks Kate, this house already has a lot of rooms and internal space so I would work at keeping the Garage/Carport and extending it so that it works for what it was built as.

The Scullery can have a sink or not and could also include a servery, lots of possiblities

I really think the secret is using the dining room area like you lot have shown

My thinking behind moving the Scullery to the outside wall gives direct access from the garage into it and the kitchen which could also have a servery to the alfresco, but also to avoid a long narrow passage way entrance between the living and family room which closes it in

The only wall space between the living and family will be the depth of the fridge, which going by the floorplan still protects the room I have as a dining/study if you maintained that wall
