Keeping some character - glass tile in bungalow bathroom renovation?
Comments (9)If you are looking to keep the "period" look, then I say no. My place is from 1916 & had a gross 1980's reno. I ripped out all the ugly vinyl floor & cheap Sears sink & went with a black hex floor, white subway, dark grey grout on both. Toilet & tub were original, but I got an old "Standard" wall mount sink with chrome legs & towel bars & an antique medicine chest, light fixtures & glass shelving & towel bar off Ebay. My total job...about $5k. Help my tile guy is my neighbor, but those 10, 15, 20k bathrooms were out of the question....See MoreGlossy tiles for bathroom ensuite?
Comments (2)I would not recommend glossy tiles in a bathroom. We have 24" polished porcelain throughout our house, and... we also have a pool. Although I love our tiles, I have to be super careful coming inside. If I am at all damp, walking on the tiles is tricky. Yes, they are easy to keep clean, but so are most tiles. For my master bath, I went with tiles that had a high COF (Coefficient of Friction). I've had my fill of slippery bathroom floors, and wanted something that I didn't have to slide a towel around on. I love them! I can step out of the shower, and have as much grip on the floor, as if I had stepped onto a mat. :)...See MoreAdvice please, mini bathroom reno DIY
Comments (0)We have just scraped together to buy our first home, everything is liveable, but it does have some of its 70s originals which I can mostly deal with but would like to do a little diy on the bathroom to be able to enjoy it a bit more until we can afford a full on reno. Any suggestion is on what we could do with this? Yes, the Lino is diabolical but it runs right through the laundry into the pink kitchen so will have to consider a few things before replacing this! TIA :)...See MoreBathroom Reno ideas to go with marble tiles
Comments (0)Hi - about to renovate our bathroom and so far we are keen on using a combo of large marble/carrara floor tiles which will also go into shower area and up the walls of the walk in shower. We also want to use white subway tiles on another wall. For the vanity we are thinking of black wooden drawers with plain white stone top and white basin . For the tap ware we are keen on gunmetal but worried it might look dated in a few years. We want a contemporary look though. What are your thoughts on this combo. We thought of doing the vanity drawers in pale grey but think it might need the black to “lift” it as there is already too much grey/white in the tiles. Thoughts? Anyone got pictures of similar combos? Thanks!...See Moremacyjean
