Hi Dreamer, thanks for your response.  I'm all new to houzz  ..
It is one large room ( family /dining) coming off a long hallway.
6.12 metres x 7 metres

Just looking at your photo you have a square dining table, for this room a rectangle table would be better. The lounge is very bulky for this room, if it needs to stay in the place you have it, to view television then a slimline lounge would give more room, and visually not block the room.

Completely agree with dining room table!! Lounge doesn't need to stay there, it can go under the window but we were thinking of a fireplace and cabinetry along the wall

Fireplace...Along which wall. The one the lounge is facing?? And is the window side the 7metre or 6.12m. A rough sketch would be good. We are not in your room, so can only go by the photos posted, where is the hall, where is the kitchen?
