We have a East facing bedroom with one window north old sleepout style with lovely etched glass at the top. We get hot weather in summer 40c. Wanting ideas for windows blinds, curtains. Still painting the windows white.
Your external blinds, or external shutters are best to keep morning heat out. If the air Con in window is staying then external blind as you have now will allow air flow to ac. You don’t have much wall space to draw curtains back off the windows and would block ac so if you want to keep the view out during day internal blinds to supplement the external are you best option, with 2 for the window with the ac.
I’ll also say you do have a lot of windows so could do curtains and let them cover some window when open. Hang the on rods much bigger than window and floor length.
Roman blinds hung high enough to expose the etched glass could work. Because there are so many windows floor length drapes will crowd the space and make the room feel smaller. You want to keep the focus and eye-line upwards keeping below the windows clean, therefore creating an illusion of space.
With the beautiful etching in the top and then the aircon on the bottom, I would look at honeycomb blinds. You can open from either top or bottom, no loose cords and they are the best at keeping hot air out.
