Which kitchen bench lights will work in a 30cm wide & deep bulk head?

I have a bulk head at the edge of my kitchen. It is about 30cm wide and hangs down about 30cm. Both the bulk head and the edge of kichen island are lined up. The bulk head reaches two small walls at the end so basically frames my kitchen. My house is contemporary industrial. The kitchen bench is well lit but the bulk head shadows the fascia of the bench at night. I figure that we will need to put lights on the bulkhead. The kitchen is white. Has anyone got any suggestions for lights?

If you are concerned with shadow under the bench overhang I would not be worried unless you are adding feature labelling there. Adding stools will hide it and you want focus on the bench top.

Is the bulkhead concealing a beam? Can the beam be moved into roof space?

If it is a beam a wall bracket could work modifying this to run Wires straight up to ceiling from light fitting

Oh, okay, may need to clarify some more. If you get a new 2 seater in place of the 2 white chairs, fine, but no blue chair at all next to the 'new' 2 seater. Won't be right with a blue chair too. So what ones are you planning to recover?. If getting rid of part of it, not understanding. 2 different styles placed next to each other won't look right. I wouldn't like old blue fabrics next to new fabrics or next to 2 different styles of furniture. New 2 seater and old blue chair next to each other, not good :)

We got the IKEA shelves that are pictured in the butlers pantry photo I posted when we were on holiday in Melbourne, Australia. We don't have IKEA here in New Zealand! Hubby is going back over in May/June so will get him to get more of that sort of thing when there. We would pay about 4x the price for that sort of thing here in NZ. I need to work out what I will do now where the fridge was and there is the angle change (does that make sense?).

I won't bother with lattice, barrels are partially obscured from the street by fencing and if I put it up I would have to work around the lattice in order to turn the valves for water. If I can just make better use of collected water I'll be happy. We are at the end of our growing season so I should be cleaning up the garden and putting it to bed for the winter, just can't seem to get motivated. We had our first frost last week. Usually, our average early frost date is 1 November. I got almost no produce from garden this year, but there is always next year. Chookchook2 I've seen some of those decorative metal panels and they are gorgeous, sure hope your budget will allow you to get some before too long. Most of our state has been on fire for a good part of the summer. The closest is across the river from us and they have been battling it for almost a month. Some friends have had to evacuate repeatedly. We've only been concerned once, a small grass fire on our side of the river on a day we had wind gusts up to 65mph. Fortunately, it was put out quickly. Australia and New Zealand have both sent firefighters to help with the blazes. I can't begin to tell you how appreciative we are. The closest fire was fought for almost a week by local volunteers only as there were no other resources available. They were all on other fires. The Army National Guard (reserve troops) were called out to help with support duties and for the first time ever the federal Department of Natural Resources (DNR) asked for civilian volunteers to help with non firefighting tasks, cutting fire breaks, moving supplies etc.

A very simple layout keeping the floor space within the kitchen, the WIP takes up a lot of space with not much gain, The broom cupboard could be moved to the Laundry/entrance, narrow. If the wall has been bumped out to the eaves on the deck side giving an extra 300 depth to the kitchen you could make the island 2700 x 1200 and all drawers. The wall of narrow pantry will hold all pantry needs and more, no deep cupboards to dig into. cheers

Hi HU, not sure what you mean by "the bulk head shadows the fascia of the bench at night." not sure what you are calling "the fascia of the bench". An illustrated photo would really help.

Either downlighting on the bulkhead of there’s enough clearance or a simple track 3 light fittings that allows you to adjust the lights. If you have clearance you could consider quite short pendants but we really need a picture.

I probably should have just said the vertical front of the bench but had heard it being referred to as fascia before (although I think that is meant to be for vertical space below the roof.)

As you can see the kitchen isn't finished yet. There is a canopy rangehood going in on the wall at the back and white glass splash backs The floors will be spotted gum. I am starting to think LED strips in the island bench may be what I need. Just want the kitchen to look lovely at night. The lights certainly are good for seeing what we need to do. I always think of the kitchen as a feature.

The home is two storeys. The room in front of the kitchen is a two storey high extension. The bulk head is to conceal a huge metal beam supporting the floor and that side of the house. It cannot be moved.

Please note that one light to the left is still not working.

Kate is correct, once your floor is in and furnished along with other light bouncing around the room, I don't think the shadow on your Island Cabinet Front will draw your eye like it is at the moment.

You could always do led strip lighting under island overhang or lightning around cabinets at floor level, very beautiful.
