I have 6 windows in my master, I was thinking rollerblinds with a sheer curtain along the front and possibly a shutter on the big side window. Thoughts?
Depends if you want full blockout and heat retention also ow to manage across French doors. Heavy blockout curtains are good to stop light leaking in and heat leaking out. Sheers are for visual inside and to stop people looking in and filter the sunlight Curtains can be drawn away from doors and allow opening doors more easily when part or fully closed compared to say a roller blind. Shutters you can angle from sun and overlooking Comes down to your preference on style and function
We love sheer curtains with a roller blind for blockout, and the shutters will be perfect for the side window. Consider running your Sheers floor to ceiling like we've done in this bedroom design for a contemporary look or opt for a feature curtain rail to add a traditional element to your design.
Thanks I’m hoping I can still achieve this same look at yours, I’m unsure how the roller blinds will mount on the French doors and the louvres. Is your track on the ceiling?
Assuming the front balcony is north facing, and the side window is east. I would do shutters on the French doors and the windows that are either side of the doors. Shutters on the other windows as well. My reasoning is, roller blinds will knock back and forth when the windows are open. If you are sleeping with your windows slightly open for ventilation then this can become annoying. Your home lends itself towards a plantation shutter vibe. You can position the shutters for full sun or partial privacy and everywhere in between or completely closed. Roller blinds are restrictive, they are either open or closed. You could always add sheers or full curtains on the side large window if you wish. The balcony shades the front windows. It really depends on your budget.
The sheer curtains are ceiling mounted. Roller blinds can be installed in a number of ways - in the window or door reveal (this is ideal), on the window or door frame, or if building new could install in a ceiling cavity. The roller fabric can be forward rolled or reverse rolled. The will need to be forward rolled for the louvres and you won't be able to open windows whilst roller blinds are down, but you don't generally keep windows open with blinds down anyway as they can bang against the window with the wind.
