Block wall insulation query

We are renovating a block basement. As the block wall has earth behind it outside, we went for internal floor and wall waterproofing. The plan is to strap out the block walls to keep the wall lining off the waterproofing membrane and enable wiring to PowerPoints.
I'm now wondering if we should have gone for foam insulation in the block walls before waterproofing.
Does anyone know if the expanded foam can be injected from outside into the concrete block wall above ground level as I understand this is a better approach than insulating between plasterboard and concrete block wall. Thanks
