What a magnificent room. And good choices so far. I’d look at a faded vintage killim or similar. Etsy has them, Miss Amara or The Lost Society have reproductions. And if you have a huge budget Cadrys or Hali have beautiful rugs (have a look for inspiration).

For colour, I would look at something light (unless you have kids or pets!) given there is a already a dark floor, and the dark paint around the windows. Perhaps an off-white or light grey shag, which would fit with the mid-century look. Of course, if you are looking for a darker, moodier vibe, feel free to ignore me :)

What a fabulous room, love the beautiful view and floor, you could go a light rug with a hint of black , even a dark rug with a contrasting edge would look fabulous.

Living in a similar house I would go with a plain neutral large rug similar to 3 & 4, you could use an edged piece of carpet which would suit the period of your house

I was going to suggest red , to tie in with gthe bricks . And then I saw tachch's suggestions , and to see it ( picture 3 ) makes me convinced that would be my choice , but everyone is different .
